Flower Pot Cupcakes
Who knows what you will find when you look into the depths of my baking box? On a random search of my supplies I stumbled across some silicone Flower Pot moulds, given to me by nan a couple of months a go. I decided it was time to put them to good use and bring some sunshine inside!

To bring these moulds to life and do them justice I decided to create a realistic flower pot complete with soil, grass, flowers and leaves.

For the soil I used a basic chocolate cupcake recipe and created the grass by making some peppermint buttercream icing with green food colouring. After finding the silicone moulds I also stumbled across some wafer flower decorations, which were given to me by my mum at Christmas, in a bumper sized baking gift bag! The wafer flowers brought all the elements of the flower pot togethe, bringing them to life.

For a final flourish I enlisted the help of Matt (as he likes fiddly, annoying jobs) and asked him to fashion me some leaves out of green sugar paste. I was very pleased with the leaves Matt created (and I think he was too), once the leaves were added to each cupcake The overall appearance was exactly as I had envisaged. An exact replica of a garden flower pot, only a bit smaller.
